I specialize in working with individuals who are struggling with self-esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, and recovery from trauma or abuse. I also work with many individuals who are having trouble adjusting to significant life stressors, such as divorce, loss of a loved one, employment stress, or parenting concerns.

I graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Family Studies. I went on to receive my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN.

I have experience working in university counseling, community mental health centers, and substance use treatment centers. In these settings, I have worked with people struggling with a variety of concerns including, trauma, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, eating disorders, parenting concerns, life stressors, depression, anxiety, substance use, and bipolar disorder.

I have a passion for training, teaching, and supervision. I am an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas. I have taught and given presentations both in academic and community settings. I have over 13 years of experience providing clinical supervision to those pursing Masters and Doctoral level licensure.

Claire Mueller

Counseling Intern

Everyone is deserving of a space where they can be vulnerable, learn more about themselves, and feel accepted. My goal is to meet you wherever you are in your journey and to create a safe, warm, and healing environment together. I honor the privilege of hearing your life story. Often it can be hard to find a place where you can be both heard and understood. I am committed to gaining a deep understanding of your pain to help you lead a fuller, richer life.

I am a counseling intern in the Master’s program at the University of St. Thomas. I have a special interest in working with teens (ages 16+) and adults. I have experience supporting people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relational conflict, trauma, self-esteem, and meaning making. I believe that you are the expert on your life, and I am here to listen and help you make sense of your experiences.

I believe that it is a clinician’s responsibility to help uplift others’ wellbeing, both in session and outside of session. In addition to my clinical work, I am committed to involvement in research and volunteering. I have a special interest in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community and am currently volunteering in research on the positive impact of non-parental mentorship on the queer community at the University of Minnesota. If you are someone struggling with gender or sexual identity, I want to hear your story!

Lastly, I have a passion of working with older adults and have a strong background in understanding the challenging and upsetting complications that mild cognitive impairment can impose for individuals. My career started at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center as a researcher, assisting in the creation of a medical device to assess for early onset mild cognitive impairment. If you are struggling with changes in cognition and thinking, I can help you.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking new recipes, baking bread, going on runs around the lakes, reading, and spending time with loved ones. As the Vice President of the Graduate Student Organization at the University of St. Thomas, I love connecting with my peers, organizing events, and figuring out new and creative ways to help promote the field of counseling psychology. I look forward to working with you!
